The “new” Armitage park brings happiness to the neighborhood!

Deux-Montagnes, June 11, 2021 – Over the past year, Armitage park located on Oka Road, at the corner of 26th Avenue, has undergone a veritable metamorphosis, to say the least! From a green space equipped with pétanque and lawn bowling grounds, it has become a signature park offering attractions for all generations. The new facilities now completed (and already very popular!), the park was officially inaugurated by the municipal council of Deux-Montagnes last Thursday, June 10.

«We were really looking forward to inaugurate this intergenerational park and the third water games area in the city. Seeing the many families who come to have fun and cool themselves off every day since the arrival of the summer heat, we are more than happy to note that the nautical themed park is already helping to improve the quality of life of people in the neighborhood, and even elsewhere ”, underlined Denis Martin, mayor of Deux-Montagnes.

All aboard!

With its water games (in operation since the end of last May) and new play areas for children, including one designed for 2-5 year olds and another for 6-12 year olds, Armitage park allows families to take full advantage of the site and go on an adventure thanks to the magnificent ship made of wood (the first installed in Quebec!).

Sports and other recreation facilities

This park is not just for the little ones. In addition to pétanque and lawn bowling grounds, the park now offers a lit volleyball court and a shaded rest area with deckchairs.

Access for people with reduced mobility

There is also an inclusive carousel at Armitage park, designed for the use of all, regardless of the child’s abilities. The carousel, large enough to accommodate several users, both children and adults, has a seat and handles for comfortable and optimal use. This activity exercises the vestibular system, the sense of orientation and spatial perception.
