2018 Canada Day

Deux-Montagnes, June 14th, 2018 – At the Deux-Montagnes City Hall, a press conference was held to announce the 47th edition of Canada Day in Deux-Montagnes to be held on Sunday, July 1st at Central Park, located at 13th Avenue, south of Oka Road in Deux-Montagnes.

Come Celebrate Canada Day in Deux-Montagnes!

A day will be filled with a parade, official ceremonies, family activities, performances from well-known local artists, not to forget the highly anticipated fireworks show, presented by the City of Deux-Montagnes.  New for 2018, a Circus Arts Initiation Workshop will be set up for the kids in the afternoon.  This year’s headlining band is The Hi-Fins, a musical tribute to British Rock from the 60’s.  For a complete schedule, please consult the website of the event organizing committee athttps://www.celebrationcanada-mrcdm.ca./

The organizing committee is pleased to announce that Mr. Donald Snell Jr. will serve at the 2018 Parade Marshall.  Don, a lifelong resident of Deux-Montagnes, has been volunteering for more than 40 years in our community, not generally as an organizer, but as a doer, someone who performs the super important, yet less pleasant aspects of volunteerism – the setting-up, the tearing down, the cooking, the lifting, the moving.  From an early age as a coach in Tee-ball, to being a Wolf Cub leader, to helping with fundraisers with Holy Family Church and the Deux-Montagnes Fireman’s Association, to more recently over the last decade with the Lions Club, Don Snell exemplifies this all important part of volunteerism and community spirit.

The Mayor of Deux-Montagnes, Mr. Denis Martin, and, Mr. Tom Whitton, President of the Canada Day Committee for MRC Deux-Montagnes used this press conference as an occasion to announce the full schedule of activities and to invite all residents from MRC Deux-Montagnes to join them for Canada Day 2018.

“Canada Day is an opportunity for fellow citizens from the MRC to get together and to proudly share their common values of freedom of expression and of culture.  We are happy to be a partner in this important event for the larger Deux-Montagnes region.” declared Mr. Denis Martin, Mayor of Deux-Montagnes.

Mr. Tom Whitton stated, “Deux-Montagnes is the best place to celebrate Canada Day on the North Shore and in the Greater Montreal region.  I would like to give special thanks to our partners, the City of Deux-Montagnes, the Government of Canada, the Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache/Deux-Montagnes, Le Selection Deux-Montagnes, and new for 2018, Tritex and Groupe JCL (L’Éveil/La Concorde) for their important contributions to this great event.”

Mr. Richard Hooper, President and CEO of Tri-Texco Inc. said: “Tri-Texco Inc. is a proud Canadian company and proud to be involved in the community by being a partner in the celebrations of Canada Day in Deux-Montagnes! “

Major Sponsors for this event include: Benoit Charette, Provincial MNA for Deux-Montagnes, Marché IGA – Sénécal et filles, Lanthier & Beatty Construction, and RTS Installations.
