The New District 6 Councillor is Margaret Lavallée

A by-election was held on July 13 in Deux-Montagnes to elect a new municipal councillor in the Golf district, following the departure of Robert Montplaisir. Margaret Lavallée won with 186 votes, 18 more than her closest competitor.

Mme Lavallée is a native of Deux-Montagnes and is from Mayor Martin’s team: Deux-Montagnes Autrement. She is mother of two children and is the wife of Douglas Parr, whose father, Cliff, was Mayor of Deux-Montagnes from 1974 to 1982. Mme Lavallée is the daughter of Nelson Lavallée, who also served as a municipal councillor in the 1970s.

She has been Coordinator of the Rocky Holt Softball Tournament for more than 24 years and is well established in the community.

“I’m persuaded that Margaret will be a major pillar for the continuity of our work that has focussed on good management of the City’s public funds. Nearly $1.6 in savings has already been made since the last election. In addition, there is excellent harmony within the current board and it’s important for us that the Golf district is represented by a councillor who wants to work as a team for the good of Deux-Montagnes and its citizens,” stated Mayor Martin.

Congratulations, Margaret Lavallée!
