Flood monitoring: Update

As of May 4, 2018, at 10 am, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes is 23.27 meters according to the measures of the site Vigilance: flood monitoring of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP).For the moment, the level of Lac des Deux Montagnes has not reached the minimum flood threshold established by the Ministry of Public Security. The City of Deux-Montagnes authorities remain vigilant and keeps a careful eye on the levelof the lake.

The City of Deux-Montagnes has obtained permission from the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change to install, if necessary, a temporary dike in the event that floodwaters threaten certain areas of the City as they did last year. The temporary dike consists of a cofferdam made of concrete blocks and a flexible polyethylene membrane. The geomembrane is weighted using sandbags in front and on the block structure. The temporary dike would be set up at intersections between different walls built on residential lots.

The City of Deux-Montagnes has acquired 1700 concrete blocks to build the temporary dike. These blocks are currently stored in public areas close to Lac des Deux-Montagnes. An installation protocol is planned so that public works staff can quickly install the cofferdam.
