Deux-Montagnes en fête

The City Innovates in the First Edition of the  Deux-Montagnes Festival!

Deux-Montagnes, June 16, 2015 – The City of Deux-Montagnes is once again innovating. The first edition of the Deux-Montagnes Festival 2015 will be held from July 10th to July 12th.

A press conference was held this afternoon in the council chamber to announce a remarkable family, cultural and sporting event. The goal is to create an annual unifying event to raise awareness of our beautiful City of Deux-Montagnes.

The public is invited to come and discover our beautiful city’s shops, attractions, and more particularly, the side-street areas off Chemin Oka, between 12th and 18th Avenues, where the festivities will take place. There will be musical performances, storytelling for young audiences, entertainment, an exhibition by local artisans, an outdoor movie screening, sports competitions and more. In addition, there will be a prize for the winning family of the geocaching treasure hunt that was designed for the public to discover trade fair businesses.

Among the festivities not be missed is the July 11th evening show featuring guest artist Jérôme Couture of La Voix, who will be performing songs from his latest album: “Comme on attend le printemps”.

In short, it’s a complete program that will appeal to all and undoubtedly mark the beginning of a tradition. Visit the City’s website site at www.ville.deux-montagnes.qc.ca and click on the Deux-Montagnes Festival 2015 tab.

Note that the event is being organized by a committee comprised of Recreation and Library Department employees, members of the Deux-Montagnes Cultural Association, local business spokespersons and finally, affiliated sports organization representatives such as ‘’Course Défi Deux-Montagnes’’ and ‘’Cardio Plein Air.’’

Mayor Denis Martin commented: “Deux-Montagnes has put together various activities that previously took place over several weekends. The synergy of this combination of activities on the same weekend is undeniable.”

Meanwhile, Municipal Councillor, Madame Micheline Groulx-Stabile stated: “Newly elected Board members had been planning to create an annual event since being elected last year that would raise awareness of the City of Deux-Montagnes.”

This event has had strong support from generous sponsors including the Banque Nationale (Boulevard des Promenades branch), Scène Studio Basto, Marché IGA Sénécal et Filles, Cardio Plein air Deux-Montagnes, the Deputy Member for Deux-Montagnes, Monsieur Benoit Charrette and finally, the Deputy Member for Rivière-des-Mille-Iles, Madame Laurin Liu.

Council members are convinced that this first edition will be successful and are hoping for a large turnout.
