Each year, City of Deux-Montagnes under its maintenance program must proceed to the waterworks System, cleaning almost 75 km of water pipelines across the territory. The work of the waterworks system will begin Tuesday, October 14 and completed by the end of November . Work will be performed one area at a time and they will be made ​​Monday through Friday between 7 am and 5 pm .

This operation is mainly used to remove the waste of particles of limestone, iron and rust in the water pipes, in order to ensure the purity of drinking water.

Once the cleaning works in your area are  completed, tap water can be safely consumed . It is not necessary to boil .

During the cleaning of the waterwork system in your area, the water coming from the faucets in the house or the water used in washing machines will show a yellow or brown color depending on the density of suspended particles .

Just make water run a few minutes before returning to normal.

Here are some basic precautions that could prevent any inconvenience :

Do not shut off the water ;

Always check water clarity before use ;

Run water at least 15 minutes or until it is clear before drinking or using it for laundry wash;

Suggest laundry washing to be done at night or on weekends

However, if clothes are stained in the laundry because of the color of the water , the City will provide a special stain remover , which is available at the Municipal Garage located at 625 , 20 th Avenue in Deux- Montagnes.
