Deux-Montagnes, September 27, 2019 –On September 24, a total of 23 prizes were awarded at the 32nd edition of the Fleurir Deux-Montagnes contest. This event is a joint initiative of the city’s Horticultural Department and the Mayor’s office and aims to encourage citizen participation in efforts to beautify their property. The city councillors were on hand, proud to present awards to the winners in each district.

All residences in Deux-Montagnes were automatically entered in the contest.

In July and August, a committee of horticultural experts and volunteer judges walked all the streets of Deux-Montagnes to observe the landscaping that attracted their attention. The landscaping and flowers beds were evaluated by category according to established criteria, including general visual landscaping, infrastructure integration, plant selection, etc. Through a scoring system, three finalists per district were selected.

In addition to the winners by district, five special prizes were awarded by the horticulturalists: the ”Horticulture Expert’s pick” prize, the prize for ”Environmental effort’’, the prize for “Multi-dwelling building”, the prize for “Balcony in bloom” and the prize for “Commercial”.

“The Fleurir Deux-Montagnes contest is the perfect opportunity to celebrate horticultural beautification initiatives. The entire city is enhanced by the splendour of the flowerbeds of many properties and the environmental benefits they bring,” said Mayor Denis Martin.

The contest organizing committee congratulates the winners and warmly thanks its local partners for their generous support.
