The Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ) is launching an appeal for solidarity to all Quebec municipalities to draw their attention to holding a memorial tribute to the victims of the Lac-Mégantic tragedy on July 6.

To mark the first anniversary of this terrible event that occurred in Lac-Mégantic, the flags at City Hall in Deux-Montagnes will be at half-mast from July 4 to July 7, 2014.

City officials will unveil a solemn memorial tribute to the many lives that were lost in this tragedy during the memorial ceremony to be held on July 6 at the Église Sainte-Agnès-du Lac-Mégantic.

The City of Deux-Montagnes invites all citizens to observe a minute of silence this Sunday, July 6, at 12:15pm, in solidarity with the relatives of the victims and citizens of Lac-Mégantic.
