Former mayor and MP Jean-Guy Bergeron dies aged 90

The City of Deux-Montagnes wishes to offer its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of former Mayor, City Councilor and former Liberal MP of Deux-Montagnes, Jean-Guy Bergeron, who passed away on June 20, 2018 at 90 years old.The thoughts of the Mayor of Deux-Montagnes, Mr. Denis Martin, members of the City Council and City staff are turned to the family and loved ones of Mr. Bergeron.

Jean-Guy Bergeron practiced dentistry in Deux-Montagnes from 1955 to 1988. As a municipal councilor from 1964 to 1967 and from 1978 to 1982, Mr. Bergeron was also the Mayor of the City of Deux-Montagnes from 1982 to 1989. Jean-Guy Bergeron served as representative of the City of Deux-Montagnes at the Mirabel-Sud Industrial Commission from 1984 to 1987, President of the Deux-Montagnes Inter-municipal Water Board in 1987 and Deputy Prefect of the Deux-Montagnes Regional County Municipality in 1989. On September 25, 1989, Jean-Guy Bergeron was elected as a Member of Parliament for the riding of Deux-Montagnes to represent the Quebec Liberal Party. The Liberal MP is a major player in the modernization of the Montreal-Deux-Montagnes suburban rail line and the expansion of the Saint-Eustache Hospital.

Mr. Bergeron has devoted his life to the community of Deux-Montagnes, but also the Hospital Center of Saint-Eustache.

He leaves to mourn his children: Jean Yves and France (Roger Gosselin), his grandchildren: Anik, Julie Andree (Jhon Edinson), Jonathan (André-Anne), Émilie (Sébastien), his great-grandchildren: Caliana, Santiago and Alice as well as several other relatives and friends.

Funerals will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 11 am at Saint-Agapit Church 1002, Oka Road, Deux-Montagnes.
