Canada Day Celebration in Deux-Montagnes

The Canada Day Committee for MRC Deux-Montagnes invites all our citizens as well as those of our surrounding communities to come and celebrate Canada Day next Wednesday, July 1st at the Central Park in Deux-Montagnes.

In fact, the 2015 Canada Day event will be the 44th edition of the celebrations in Deux-Montagnes, where more than 10,000 people from the surrounding area’s come to enjoy the festivities.

The celebration will start with a parade which will leave begin at the Veterans Hall, 141 Grand-Moulin Road at 11:45 AM and stop at City Hall for the singing of ‘’O Canada’’ at noon. The Parade will then continue on to Central Park (13th Avenue, just south of Oka Road)

The Committee is pleased to name as its Parade Marshall Mr. Melvin Ray Mills, former director of the Deux-Montagnes Fire Department. Involved in municipal services since 1960, Mr. Mills is a devoted volunteer in many Street Festivals in Deux-Montagnes. The success of this Canada Day celebration, with its growing popularity ensures that this event is now part of a cultural tradition in Deux-Montagnes.

The opening ceremony will take place at 12:45 PM and, starting at 1 PM, there will be several activities going on which you will find the complete schedule below.

Do not miss, the headlining band ‘’The Blushing Brides’’ and the ‘’Forever Young Theater group’’ who will perform at Central Park.

It is important to note that food and beverages will be sold on site.

This year a special event will take place in the afternoon to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Canadian flag. A fireworks show will take place at 10:15 PM.

The Committee would like to thank the valuable assistance of community groups such as the Lions Club of Deux-Montagnes, The Royal Canadian Legion and Deux-Montagnes Cadets – 107 Navy League .

The Committee is launching a new website: www.celebrationcanada-mrcdm.ca  to promote the activities of this committee and will inform its subscribers via Facebook and Twitter.

Mr. Dave Byers, President of the Canada Day Committee says: «With the regional nature of the event, we are very excited and pleased with the growth of this day. I must take this opportunity to thanks our wonderful group of volunteers as well as all of our sponsors, including our partner, the City of Deux-Montagnes, the Government of Canada, and Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache/Deux-Montagnes.»

The Mayor of Deux-Montagnes, Mr. Denis Martin, mentioned for his part that: «The celebration of July 1st in Deux-Montagnes is an opportunity for the citizens of all surrounding cities of the MRC to come and enjoin with us what we all proudly have in common: freedom of expression and culture.»

Meanwhile, Mr. Neil Hawthorn, General Manager of the Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Eustache/Deux-Montagnes, said: «The Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Eustache-Deux-Montagnes is proud to be partner of the Canada Day activities. As a cooperative, the Caisse’s mission is to contribute to economic and social well-being of the community and by taking part in the festivities of our community is another example of our contribution. »

For everyone’s safety, dogs are not allowed on site

All food & beverages other than those sold on site are not permitted

Please encourage the event by purchasing your food and drink on site. These sales go directly towards offsetting the costs for the festivities, including the fireworks display.

Please note that the streets which border Central Park will be closed as of 7:00 PM.
