2018 Fleurir Deux-Montagnes contest

Deux-Montagnes, October 9, 2018 –On September 25th 2018, took place the awards ceremony of the Fleurir Deux-Montagnes contest at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.  For this 31ft edition, this event is a joint initiative of the city’s Horticultural Department and the Mayor’s office and it’s still the favourite popular annual contest. During the ceremony, city councillors were on hand, proud to present awards to the winners in each district.

The 31ft Annual Edition of the Fleurir Deux-Montagnes contest

All residences in Deux-Montagnes were automatically entered in the contest. During the summer of 2018 a selection committee made up of horticultural experts and volunteer judges combed the streets in search of the most beautiful landscapes of Deux-Montagnes. The landscaping assessment criteria were: variety and originality, respect for the environment, infrastructure integration, the overall visual effect of the landscaping, and how the plants are showcased.

During the ceremony, awards were distributed to the first-, second-, and third-place winners in each district. One recipient was also chosen from each of the five special award categories, Green Garden, Horticultural Expert’s Pick, the flowering effort for the multi-dwelling buildings, the most beautiful flower-filled balcony and the horticultural development for local businesses for a total of 23 winners.

Denis Martin, the Mayor of Deux-Montagnes said,Without a doubt, the beauty of a city is built thanks to its citizens. The awards ceremony Fleurir Deux-Montagnes is the perfect opportunity to celebrate this horticultural beautification initiative. Not only were many of the city’s houses remarkable for their floral splendor, but also because of the environmental benefits they were able to bring on the neighborhood”.

The organizing committee extended sincere congratulations to the winners and thanked local partners for their generous support. The City of Deux-Montagnes invites all residents to participate in next year’s edition of the Fleurir Deux-Montagnes contest!
