2016 Canada Day

At a press conference in the City Hall of Deux-Montagnes last June 17th, the Mayor, Denis Martin and the members of the Committee of the Canada Day for the MRC Deux-Montagnes, have invited all the citizens of the surrounding municipalities at the 45th edition of the Canada Day 2016. The celebration will take place on Friday 1 July at Central park on 13th Avenue, south of Oka road Deux-Montagnes.

For the second consecutive year, the music group ” Blushing Brides ” will be performing at Central Park on the stage sponsored by Le Selection Deux-Montagnes.  The fireworks will be held at 22 h 15. You can find the complete schedule below.

This year, the Committee has appointed Mr. Troy Ewenson, as the Parade Marshall. Resident and volunteer involved in sport for at least 20 years in Deux-Montagnes, Mr. Ewenson held vice-president and president positions at the Softball Association Deux-Montagnes (DMSA) since 1996. He initiated several fundraising activities, raising $100,000 through the past years; founds were dedicated to the local community purposes. The involvement of Mr. Troy Ewenson is noteworthy.

The Committee would mention the precious assistance of the community groups such as the Lions Club of Deux-Montagnes, The Royal Canadian Legion, The Cadet of Deux-Montagnes – 107 Navy League and La Maison des Jeunes de Deux-Montagnes.

Mayor Denis Martin for his part reiterated the invitation to all citizens of the surrounding municipalities: “Canada Day is an opportunity to meet fellow citizens living in the MRC area who proudly share the common values such as freedom of expression and culture.

The president of the Committee, Mr. Dave Byers, noted meanwhile: “We are proud of the Community participation and the longevity of this celebration, which is the only recognized event on the North Shore which attracts almost 10,000 people. I must take this opportunity to thanks our wonderful group of volunteers as well as our partners, the City of Deux-Montagnes, the Government of Canada, Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache/Deux-Montagnes, and our brand new partner this year, Réseau Sélection.

PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES            Canada Day, Friday July 1st, 2016

 11:45   Canada Day Formal Parade (from the Legion Hall, along Oka Road, final stop at the Central Park located on 13th Avenue)

Noon      Singing the national anthem “O Canada” in front of City Hall.

12:45      Opening Ceremony at the Central Park

1 pm to 6 pm     Games for children, bingo, horseshoes tournament to horse, a small zoo

Entry will be free to the Exterior Municipal swimming Pool all day.

1 pm to 3 pm                 Races for children, family entertainments

1 pm to 9:45 pm             Shows of Music Bands and Singers

For the safety of all, dogs will not be allowed. The food and beverages other than those sold on the site will not be accepted. Encourage the event by buying your drinks and food on site. Revenues are directly injected into the festivities budget in order to cover the cost of the fireworks show.

Note: the streets bordering Central Park will be closed from 19 pm
